DJing for 14+ years, Garrick Michael has been a major influence in the Midwest EDM (electronic dance music) scene. He has taught the art of mixing to other local DJs and some who have gone on to other major US cities. Guest appearing on 89.7 KIWR The River’s EDM show “The Warehouse” and University of Nebraska Lincoln’s 90.3 KRNU, Garrick Michael DJ’d and promoted electronic music to listeners in eastern NE and western IA. Playing clubs and events in Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Portland, Scottsdale, Tempe, Omaha, and Des Moines, Garrick Michael held the longest residency at Club 1427 (Lincoln, Ne). Club 1427 later changed its name and ownership to Bricktop (www.thebricktop.net). Garrick Michael was the head dj and entertainment director for Bricktop from 2003 until January 2010. His Saturday residency @ Bricktop called the “Beat House” introduced the latest hot new electronic releases. Garrick Michael is not known for DJing one specific style of EDM but in the club environment, he is able to move from one style to the next to keep the dance floor energy up and crowds entertained. His latest DJ sets have been mostly tech house. Garrick Michael organized and judged Bricktop’s annual DJ spin-off for seven years, which showcased DJ talent in the area and gave many up and comers their first public performance.

Garrick Michael in association with other local production groups such as StrangeSounds USA, Phul Phunk, and Krizzle has brought to the Nebraska scene some the industries best DJs and Producers. Lange, Pulser, Lisa Lashes, Bad Boy Bill, Josh “The Funky 1”, D:fuse, Baby Anne, Christopher Lawrence, Angel Alanis, & Burufunk to name a few.

Garrick Michael has been DJing fashion shows for local hair salons and boutiques for the last 7 years. Most notably Salon Vibe fashion shows. The latest Salon Vibe fashion shows have been part of Four5Productions events, such as Lincoln, Nebraska’s incredibly successful annual Summer Sound Sessions. Garrick Michael has also DJ’d fashion shows for Iasan & Sebastian Studio Salon (named a Top 100 salon in Elle magazine), XY, and Dove Shannon. With his focus now on music production, Garrick Michael continues to bring the sounds that make bodies move.

Garrick Michael's sets contain a variety of EDM including tech house, progressive house, electro house, breakbeat, indie dance and techno. Garrick Michael is able to seamlessly transition form style to style keeping the music interesting and the dance floor full.

Affiliations

BrickTop :: BrickTop is the dance club in the Nebraska area. Omaha and Lincoln DJs clamor for the limited number of spots to play at this popular club. BrickTop hosts an annual DJ spinoff, where area DJs compete for top prize ($1000) and acknowledgement. Garrick Michael organizes the annual DJ Spinoff. He also is in charge of booking DJs and entertainment while being a club resident himself. StrangeSounds USA :: StrangeSounds USA was an electronic music production company serving the Lincoln and Omaha area. Founding members included Vitally Balasanov, Garrick Michael, and Kirill Arushanov. The StrangeSounds website was a community based website which features local area events, news, photos, and DJ info and music. Phul Phunk :: Phul Phunk was an electronic music production company owned by Zach Church (Zak C). Zak C is also a resident DJ at BrickTop (Lincoln, Ne). Garrick Michael and Zak C owned and operated Lincoln's first music store solely catered to the DJ culture called Liquid Grooves. The Phul Phunk website had information about Midwest area events, photos from area events, Bar 415 (Omaha, Ne) and BrickTop. Phul Phunk has a full line of clothing featuring the Phul Phunk logo.
